Wouldn't you still end up with disproportionately long legs and be a bit of fragile when it comes to doing any kind of sport?

White people want to be black. Black people want to be white. Short people want to be tall. Thin girls have arse implants. Fat girls have liposuction.

Seems nobody is happy with who they are.

In hindsight, going down the DIY route wasn't a great decision despite Mrs Jagnet's enthusiasm and willingness to give it a go

This is a 40 year old chap who does a desk job.

Give them 15 or 20 years and it’ll probably be constant pain every winter, tight hamstrings, bad knees, and god knows what other issues.

When my wife was training to be a counsellor one of the lecturers was the person who had to assess people who wanted this procedure to make sure they were of sound mind, as if wanting it in the first place kinda suggested they werent

My sister had this done in the 90's.

She had a compound fracture on her right leg whilst camping on Lundy Island. She was air lifted to hospital in Cardiff. In hospital, she got an infection (MRSA), essentially killing some of the bone. This meant her right leg was going to be an inch or so shorter. Not good.

So she had an Ilizarov frame fitted. Essentially, five bolts screwed into the bone either side of the break, some spokes going through the leg to support various rings and some screw threads to slowly stretch the bone as it heals. She was on crutches for a long time.

It took about 18 months in all, but she had equal length legs again. The scarring is pretty bad, but arguably the scar from the main break is the worst part now, some 25 years later. Quite amazing.
