Relative is planning to have some breast realignment surgery and has found it is cheaper in Belgium then elsewhere? A bit worried about this, I read on one site plastic surgery is not regulated in Belgium, which I find unlikly.

Anyone know anything on tthe subject?

I can't claim knowledge myself, but I'm in Belgium and a good friend - via our classic car club - is a plastic surgeon (or human panel-beater as he prefers to be known). If you have any particular questions I can ask him - feel free to PM me if you don't want to post details on here. If you have a particular clinic or surgeon in mind I can ask him his opinion.

I've lived in Belgium since 1996 and while I can't comment on private clinics, the standard of care you receive in the public health sector over here makes the NHS seem absolutely third world.

What's your friend's contingency plan if there is a complication or post-operative problem?

See the PIP Silicone (industrial, none medical grade) era of implants in the 2000/2010s.

UK banned these. France continued (and I'd assume Benlux countries as well).

Best to ask if the material is medical grade for a starter from the clinic and what after care they offer.

Get insurance that covers the travel properly, see Botox fails abroad.

It can be done right, with correct insurance (health and travel) and proper materials used and proper aftercare (hear of a Turkish breast implant on a flight home three days after....!).

Don't choose on price.

My wife had her breast enlargement done at London Welbeck Hospital - never skimp on price. It's not a minor operation!

presumably the NHS wink
who pick up a lot of 'fixing it' work from people travelling abroad for medical procedures...
