I'm pretty desperate here, coz it's driving me nuts irked

I wore my glasses in the pool the other day - not an ordinary pool either, but one with "...sulphurous water with bromide and iodide salts is rich in sulphur, sodium chloride, iodine, bromine and trace elements, magnesium, selenium and zinc."

It was in Italy, and pretty hot, I also went into the Finnish sauna, and so my current theory is that I've managed to "bake on" the water marks. The coating is now a splotchy, streaky mess, which looks horrendous when the light catches it.

So far, nothing I've tried will remove it - inc proper lense wipes and a vinegar / water solution.

If someone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful!

Is it watermarks or has the ‘water’ affected the lens coating and left watermark shaped damage?

The latter, as well as streaks.

I'm guessing it's fked.

For what it's worth, this hasn't happened before in pools etc - including the same spa previously.

It sounds like you have crazed the MAR coating on the outside - heat will do this. I tend to get stuff brought in from the dashboard of cars, hairdriers, saunas etc
If that's the case then they are done for. In theory you can have the coating stripped off but franky it dosn't always work and leaves a poor result, although less annoying than how it is currently.
New lenses needed sadly.
