It’s my birthday and I’m in hospital. It could be much worse much much worse but I pray and cry everyday that I’ll be able to walk again without pain or severe fatigue.

I’ve just turned 38 I’ve been sick and crippled with pain for just about 2 years and we don’t know what’s causing my abdominal pain I’ve had a lot of scans, tubes, examinations, samples etc etc etc. I don’t have symptoms that seem to match any typical source but that’s for another day.

I was active, very active before I got sick. I wasn’t perfect by a long shot but I was very fit, very strong and enjoyed my life with my amazing family making plans and keeping busy. I miss being able to play and be active more in the life’s of my 3 kids.

I go pretty much bed to sofa and back again all day everyday since the end of 2020 I’m glad for the better days I have but there are very few.

Get out there and do what you want. Don’t put things off. Show the people who mean the most to you what you feel. Enjoy your life. Don’t wait.

All the best.

Very tough for you to have to deal with this- hopefully they will solve the mystery and provide you with appropriate treatment and you get back to your life. Very best wishes for a recovery.

Sounds awful

I assume Crohns has been ruled out?

You probably need a doctor like House MD ( a diagnostician)
Hope you get your answers soon.

Sounds horrendous.

Like someone else said, Chrones or Ulcerative Colitis symptoms are very similar. (I speak as a UC sufferer whoe eventually went under the knife and has never looked back!)

Good luck to you my friend

Best of luck OP. I agree with what you say about taking your health for granted.

I messed up my knee a few of months ago swatting a wasp. Swatting a wasp FFS!

5 weeks post surgery and still can’t walk properly and am kept awake by pain at night. Was fit, lean and strong. Now, not so much. Can only hope it gets better, but makes me realise how relatively fragile we are.

My cholesterol was low, I was lighter and fitter than in 30 years.
Heart attack. 2 years ago.
Stent fitted.

I try to avoid stress now.

Sorry to hear this. I'm 38 also and acutely aware that stuff is starting to go wrong. I consider myself fit and healthy with an excellent diet, but sometimes you just gotta say fk it, life is too short. Hope you get some clarity on what's wrong.

Mate of mine, 40, went home from work feeling rough. Driving home, he missed the bend at the end of his road and stuffed his car into a neighbour's wall. The police took him into hospital (ambulances unavailable, as per), he'd had a big stroke. Months later he's still in a rehab unit, can't use his left arm and he's learning to walk again, just about. Still got a bag attached to him for his bodily functions, and he's waiting to go back into hospital to have the top of his skull back on but he keeps getting infections. Phone calls are tricky as his speech is very poor, so he we chat via F'book Messenger, sometimes with a bit of dechiphering required to read what he's written.

Yeah, make the most of it!

I am wishing you some respite soon and a diagnosis so you can rebuild life

I can only echo what your saying, I have lost my daughters mum this year to cancer, she was 38
And my best friend who was 40 dropped dead at work one day 2 months ago after complaining of a headache with a huge bleed on the brain

You never know what's around the corner so enjoy every day

Overall cholesterol alone is not correlated with CVD risk, at all, for reference smile Those on a ketogenic diet, for example, have very, very high cholesterol, yet their CAC scores are invariably very low and their risk of CVD is incredibly low compared to the general public. Several hunter-gatherer tribes that have a largely animal-based diet are similar, they have very high cholesterol yet suffer no CVD.

Sorry to hear that. Just out of curiosity, could you describe your diet, the more detail the better.
