A lot longer than it will take you for 111 to return your call.

If you're drinking, come back in two weeks and tell us how you're doing.

I managed to not eat for 5 days and only drank water - I was fine. I had phases of being tired but generally felt fine.

I spsoe it depends on how fat you are to start with as well though.

Working it out, i have a few months storage. Would it really be bad for me to try a month?

It'd be worth watching The Machinest with Christian Bale

You should drink a nice big glass full, whilst pushing 111 on the phone (I assume you're in the UK)

Then while you're waiting for the Doctor to phone back.

Have another glass full.

If you're drinking water you can live for months without eating. Ask the Irish hunger strikers.

My FiL has terminal cancer and hasn't eaten for weeks, but he's still here unfortunately.
He's stopped drinking in last couple of days so hopefully he'll be out of pain soon

Not advisable, but I recal reading that after the force feeding scandal the
imprisoned suffragettes who went on hunger strikes were released after a few weeks,
and being young healthy women they recovered quickly with no side effects then they
were re-arrested sent back to jail and they went back on hunger strike, the Cat and Mouse strategy
I think it was called

Last thing the government wanted was martyrs.

Keep drinking water. Are you feeling ill? There must be a reason why you’re not hungry. It’s not normal to have no hunger at all. What happens if you smell food do you still not feel hungry if you smell some frying onions for example?

This is stupid, there’s no way you’ll be feeling fine after not eating for three days.

Your brain starts to physiologically be affected by hunger after 12 hours. You’ll notice low mood, short attention span and irritability.

There are psychological reasons that you would lose your appetite but you would still feel the physical effects of hunger.

Just as a thought, have you tested for covid?

When I had it I lost my sense of taste and my appetite totally disappeared.

I have done it a few times - I fasted for 100 hours a couple of weeks ago, it's really not a problem if you are carrying extra fat. You will go into ketosis within about 48 hours and start to burn body fat. You do need to drink plenty of water though, a couple of litres a day roughly, but monitor your urine colour. I also took a vitamin tablet each morning, but it's not really necessary if you are only fasting for up to a week or so. I find the hardest bit is the mind-numbing boredom of not eating. It does reset my digestion though and makes me feel great, you lose your hunger after the first couple of days really.

There is loads on YouTube about it.

The old adage was that you could survive:
3 minutes without air
3 days without water
3 weeks without food.
