Good morning,

I enjoyed getting in shape in 2020 and 2021 just doing loads of pushups and pull ups.

My door way was very narrow and so I bodged the pull up bar to fit and eventually broke something in my elbow in September 2021.

I now seem to be better but I'm out of the exercise habit and don't won't to injure myself again so I'm looking at options to get me back into it.

I started with Stronglifts 5x5 but my OHP is way weaker than my squat so I cannot progress my squat as I cannot safely get the weight in place.

Also Bench pressing from the floor isn't easy to get the bar in place either so my chest is getting off lightly.

I'm in that usual position of wanting to buy at the cheaper end of the scale but not have to buy twice within a short amount of time.

Would this be good enough for the first few years ? Keeping in mind I'm a weak office worker, not someone who is already strong to start with

Thanks, Andrew

I got the aldi power cage for 299. Does everything. Can pick up ones that look the same for 250.

These are good I’ve seen one in the flesh. You’re not buggering about adjusting them too much with one of these.

I've got this one and can certainly vouch for it

The pull up bar is very handy for you guessed it pull ups and dead hangs. You can do dips on the central bars and the pulley system Lat pull downs or any other cable exercises.

Completely depends how much space you've got. Personally I hate using anything other than a cage as per the links above. You've already had one accident, I would steer clear of trying to squat off the top of any stand. Doesn't matter if you consider yourself relatively weak, a 20kg barbell landing on your head is the same in any language.

You can get a decent incline bench on it's own and use that in the cage (again depends on space) for all the same exercises.

I’ve got that rack and Mirafit’s fixed bench.

Did me fine on 5x5 over lockdown and is still going strong.

That said I’m selling all my kit (rack, bench, bar, hex bar, 150kg of cast iron plates, 70kg of bumper plates, wall mount pull-up bar, 50mm dumbbell handles) because I’m moving back to running and cycling and don’t really have the time. Feel free to PM me if you’re interested, I’m near Birmingham.

Thanks guys, I'll see if I have the space and cash for a full power cage. I'd be worried about the cables with the kids though.

I'm a bit far from Birmingham, unfortunately
