So at the end of May, I hit up the trails on the MTB, set a load of PB's, then the week later, went on a track day. All good fun, risky activities for that Month check.

That Saturday I went to play mini-golf for a birthday and rolled my ankle stepping off a course. I could still walk on it for the rest of the night, but It swelled up and went various shades of blue/purple/yellow etc. a day or so later.

Now it's coming to mid-July and it's still bigger than the other side and I do get pain in it (although mild) and stability isn't great.

Anyone had similar?

When I did mine quite badly it took around 8 weeks before I could walk without discomfort and probably 12 weeks before it felt ok. Even then it still felt weak when running on it.

I took a tumble down some stairs and rolled both of mine last year - cue hideous swelling and bruises for a few weeks. It was a good few months before they felt anything like normal and still ached after a long walk about 6 months later. It was in the middle of lock down, any different time I think I might have gone for an X-Ray but it wasn't really an option at the time. When you do a proper sprain it can really effing hurt!

When I did mine the physio said it normally takes a year before they’re fully back to normal. However a couple of years later it still isn’t right.

I did similar in the middle of May playing football. Thought I’d just horrendously sprained it at first, but decided to go to hospital for an x-ray. Very glad I did-I’d fractured my lower left fibular!

Not what you want to hear, but it’s worth an exploratory x-ray if you’re still experiencing swelling, poor stability and discomfort.

Ok.. It's been 6 weeks-ish and swelling is down, maybe I may make a call to the PMI...

Does seem that 6 weeks is on the low side for a full sprain
