I had "Any Questions" on in the car earlier, and they were talking about free Covid testing stopping next week.
My immediate thought was "does anyone actually even still test for Covid?" so I was staggered when they asked the audience who had tested in the last week, and they estimated the response at 75%?!?!
I'm now wondering if it's me or the Any Questions audience who is the abnormal outlier?
I've done 3 Covid tests in total, one of which was a PCR test to come back from France, and the others were a Lateral Flow and confirmatory PCR when I actually got Covid. Have lots of other people been testing frequently?

We still have some tests, so we'll use them up. Not sure we'll buy any.
Over Christmas myself and partner had coughs/colds so tested every day whilst seeing older relatives.
If I've been with a group of people at work and then one tests positive I'll test as well the next time I go to the office. Good excuse not to bother travelling if its positive...

Twice in total. Once because I was required to when working at a Hospice, once because I was notified that I'd been in contact with an infected person.
I suspect it might be bimodal: lots of people testing very frequently, lots of people hardly ever.
FWIW, the QT audience isn't particularly representative. It's made up of people who applied to be in the audience.

Now only testing when I'm feeling under-the-weather and want to know if it's covid / a cold / stonking hangover.
Felt dreadful early March and did one which came back positive...then continued to test positive for the next 10 days. Was quite useful, as it meant that I could just WFH rather than infecting the rest of my team. It's also useful to take one before seeing our parents who are in their 70s and might not handle it as well as us in our 30s.
Seems to be particularly bad in central London at the moment. Loads of people I know who are triple-vaxxed have got it and been in bed for 3 or 4 days.

There've been no LFT tests available via post or collect codes (you get the codes but no pharmacies have stock, or claim not to) since last Weds. So the 1st April is bks, it was 17th March.
And amazingly, I reckon come 1st April, pharmacies will suddenly have stock all at 40 quid a pop.

So, like a dose of the flu then?
Don't think I'd bother even if I felt rough. It'll pass, it's a virus. Lie low for a day or two, take Beechams. Sleep.
Likely depends on your work or family set up.Don't think I'd bother even if I felt rough. It'll pass, it's a virus. Lie low for a day or two, take Beechams. Sleep.
If you work from home or are retired or aren’t traveling abroad much etc then theres possibly not much reason to do any tests but other people might be in very different situations.

They are available but restricted to those at risk or tested positive. I had some delivered today, so did Mrs21. And amazingly, I reckon come 1st April, pharmacies will suddenly have stock all at 40 quid a pop.

Yeah we’ve got loads plus the kids seem to have them from school. My wife and I also get them free at work. I think some essential workers can still order them via the nhs also.

Our neighbour but one, they both have covid this week too. Similarly, they cannot get any tests and asked us for some, but we don’t have any! She is 74, him 80 with Parkinson’s! There kids got some from a GP near where they live in midlands where she knows someone who works there, and they brought them up on Friday. He’s negative now, although still feels like st, but he is now out and about, she’s still +ve at 8 days today.
Best we can get is today been offered a a postal PCR test. We could not even test our son to allow him back to school, midweek so he returns this week after 10 days. School would only accept him back after 5 with two LFT tests or at 10 days, and we didn’t have any tests to prove it, and none available via school. His GP didn’t have any available either.
It’s fking hopeless, so time consuming, so confusing, and if you’re honest with people like schools etc, you’re fked if you cannot get a test to prove you’re clear now, all you can do is see out 10 days.
I’ve still not caught it, kids have, daughter 14, was symptom free (apart from half a day of weird nausea), son who’s younger, 11, has been pretty under weather with it, fever, diahorrea, and very bad headaches for probably 4 days or so. But he’s been fine since Weds, just not allowed back to school.
Btw, the PCR place he went to to take test to confirm he had it, has closed up and is no longer doing them. Was on a big out of town car park, it’s just car park now since Weds this week.
Christmas.
Wasn't bothered myself, but everyone we were seeing seemed to jump on the "let's test before we see each other to be on the safe side" bandwagon. More the younger family members really. My mum and dad weren't bothered, it was the first time my uncle had ever done one!
We all survived, my wife's cousin tested positive the day after I'd spent the afternoon in a pub with him, but he barely had any symptoms.
I've had to do loads of tests as I travel a lot for work, so I'm not doing them when I'm not ill!
