When I had a painful bout of indigestion, a friend suggested swallowing a spoonful of sugar. It worked instantly, and it's worked a couple of times since.

Is there some mechanism why it should work?
Placebo effect?
Coincidence?
Could it be it wasn't indigestion at all and the sugar is fixing symptoms of something totally different?

Largely a myth. For many digestive issues sugar is actually pretty bad (eg SIBO, reflux etc). It's certainly not a healthy way of relieving a problem if it does help. You're better off finding why you have indigestion in the first place smile
