Good Morning

I am worried about my son and having sleepless nights.

I am worried that he may be going to some websites online which are not appropriate for him.

Is there any way I can check which sites he goes to?

Thanks
You could look at his internet history easily if you're comfortable doing so. It's a dodgy area, trust-wise. Also, he could of course be browsing using incognito mode.

Your son is 20 and therefore an adult, there are not many sites that would be inappropriate for him, unless it involves children?

What sorts of sites are you worried that he might be going on?

At 20 years old he is an adult, so I wouldn't be checking unless you feel it's something dangerous?

At 20 he will 100% be on websites that involve naked woman if that's what your on about so no point checking that. Again at 20 he can do as he pleases tbh. You could go full cyber nanny mode and get your Internet restricted by the provider to block any 18+ sites.

What is making you connect his sleepless nights to the content he's watching on the internet?

There could be lots of reasons for being anxious.

I think the dad is having sleepless nights, not the kid.

OP - how to approach it really depends on what it is. I think you’d have to take a different approach if it was illegal vs immoral.

Depends what sort of things you mean.

I would suggest sitting down for a conversation then depending on results get some help. Maybe from GP, maybe from police if serious or maybe even counselling.

There isn’t much you can do if you don’t know what’s happening.

You won't say that when he runs off to join Islamic State

Son won't tell dad which porn sites he watches, so dad asks PH'ers how he can check his computer.

Go to his internet history and look down the list of websites he has visited, double click on the one called xhamster dot com.

There probably isn’t a 20 year old man in the entire western world who hasn’t occasionally looked at a bit of smut online.

This needs clarification. If it’s porn, leave him be.

If it’s something which he may be in genuine danger from (physical, legal) then talk to him as those are two very different conversations.

I'd be speaking to him in the first instance.

Is he sociable, still mixing with friends as usual etc?

Work OK?

He's twenty years old not a child. Don't interfere.
