Evening

Can anyone recommend any health insurance policies that include full checkups every 6 months/each year?

Considering getting one for me and the wife (both 40ish) and my dad who’s 70ish. After losing three of our four parents in around two years (all either suddenly or at young ages) it’s made us start thinking about this stuff…

Thanks in advance

What do you expect from these checkups?

I have an annual checkup at my GP surgery. It amounts to a blood test for various things I might be vulnerable to, and check that used to be face to face, but is now on the phone, for reaction to pills, and a brief check on how fit I am - weight and exercise. These checks picked up my prostate problems, which then went onto cancer, and my hypothyroidism. I have a genetic predisposition, and that's checked as well. I've progressed now to two phials being removed.

If a family member had a particular problem and you are concerned, then ask for that to be checked. My doctor is only too willing to do so.

I have access to a private doctor via an insurance with my federation. I am only charged if I see one face to face, £70 last time I looked, some years ago now, and they start by email/text/letter consultations. If they think it necessary, they will send you to the hospital, writing the required letter for free. Prescriptions are charged for, around £10 I'm told.

If all you want are regular checks, then such consultations, while not cheap I assume, will be cheaper than insurance.

If money is of little consideration, then enquire about the various types of cover from the various providers.

Haven’t thought in any great detail. But I guess blood tests, blood pressure, etc!
