I thought this would be simple to work out, but I'm being given conflicting advice by different agencies...

Yesterday my daughter (15yo) was sent a text by Test & Trace saying that she has been in proximity to someone who has tested positive for Covid19 and that she has to self isolate for 10 days.

I looked at the NHS advice website and it says that :"You do not need to self-isolate if any of the following apply: you're under 18 years old".
However it also says that people who have been told to isolate shouldn't "go to work, school or a public place"

Her school says that she should attend unless she tests positive herself (yesterday's LFT was negative)

So then I rang the NHS helpline, and they said she should isolate for five days and then take a test...

So now I'm confused. If she stays home then it will be against school rules/guidelines. But if she goes to school she could be in conflict with NHS guidelines/rules.

My personal view is just because she has been in "close contact" with someone does not mean she has caught it.

If the LFT is negative, and she is OK I would just carry on.

The country would grind to a halt if everyone did this.

Others may disagree.

Send her in. My two were required to attend even though my wife and I were both positive.

If she’s negative then go to school as school suggest. Keep testing though out the week if you are worried. And delete that pesky app.
