Clicky Thumbs?
Discussion
I had it last year. I had it in my left thumb and was really painful - keeping me up at night if it clicked.
I was given some strong anti-inflammatory tablets - but these did not do anything. Soon enough I could not bend my thumb at the knuckle. Eventually got referred to the hospital and diagnosed. Put on a waiting list (during lockdown etc.) but by the time my slot came up it had improved again. (That was privately too!!)
My middle finger also clicks, but not with any pain or noise.
I will just wait and see if it comes back again.....
They did ask if I was a builder (I have a desk job!) as it is common with people using jack hammers. It is a purely muscular issue as I thought poor circulation might have caused it. Not the case - not sure why I have it????

Both mine do it, have done for as long as I remember. But I have to wait a few minutes for the click to 'reset' between clicks.
It's quite a loud click as the pressure is released. I always assumed it the same as cracking a knuckle and the click was nitrogen or something moving in the middle joints when you flex them.

I have that in my elbows and ankles as well, I think its the tendon sheath or a growth on it, mine used to reset over a while but its doing it every few seconds now so will get an appointment, got medical insurance through work. It's quite a loud click as the pressure is released.
