Covid-safe barbers
Discussion
My usual barber has closed down so I need to find a new one.
There are a few in the local area, many of them don't seem to bother adhering to Covid regulations. What's the best way to go about finding a decent new barber? It's hard enough pre-Covid, but finding one that actually sticks to the rules seems impossible even if they do a good cut.

So you don't mind them touching your hair and head but you want them to wear a mask? Or do you want them standing 2m away with a long pair of scissors?
Any particular type of mask? An ffp3 or full respirator may give some protection but you won't find one that is happy to wear that all day. The rest do little to nothing.
Not sure what other "Covid safe" issues you might be talking about.

It's almost too easy to froth them up
Any need for the unpleasantness, chaps? I've removed some of it because it's unnecessary but in amongst it there's some useful pointers.
Hairdressers seem to be taking it more seriously, plus local to me the barbers staffed by women. But I've resorted to clippers and I'm not sure I'll bother going back.

Ps....try a lady hairdresser....they all seem to be well into the mask bullst.
As a service industry you have to do whatever the client wants. At the moment they want masks, as such all our salons are masked up.To the OP just walk round your local town and find a barbers wearing masks.

TBH this is probably the only answer if you are not into cutting your own or have someone at home to do it for you. I'm lucky, Mrs21 has become very adept at trimming mine over the past couple of years.Elatino1 said:

Well when they're stood less than 2m away I'd rather they wear a mask than spit at my head every time they talk. It's not possible to stay 2m apart, so a mask is a sensible precaution to take in this situation.Any particular type of mask? So the ladies seem to be more sensible than blokes, now there's a surprise. Might have a look at female run barbers if they're likely to take precautions seriously.Hairdressers seem to be taking it more seriously, plus local to me the barbers staffed by women. I'm able to cut hair, no issues with doing other peoples. I do struggle to do my own as it's difficult to coordinate your hand in the mirror, always stuck with visiting the barber for this reason. I suspect I just need more practice.Bill said:

Just to make you feel safer, my friend rents a chair. A girl. In a "girly" salon. Not saying this is right at all but everyone of them had covid, and kept working through it with a mask on. So get your clippers pal because you won't be safe anywhere

Well Britain is hardly safe no. Of all the countries I've spent time in during the pandemic, the UK is the worst. People here are selfish. It shouldn't be difficult to find someone that actually wears a mask, it's the rules.Edited by hotchy on Saturday 8th January 06:54
