random as it sounds for my whole trip im up all night every 1 1/2hrs for a wee , get back to uk and its back to normal after a night

daytimes are normal , im drinking the same amounts and same drinks (not 20 pints) , if it was the local water i would same during the day

any ideas ? no real biggie but would nice to get a nights sleep

Was there some sort of anxiety associated with the trip? Or has there been in the past?
Could be psychological, ever time you travel there, you might now be thinking about this even subconsciously, making the problem real.

Its a strange one, and I have nothing really to offer other than it seems psychological, you thinking about it is probably making it happen.
I have had similar experience before, very frustrating, even went to the docs who found nothing physically wrong.
It eventually righted itself though.
Try limiting what you drink a couple of hours before bed if you can, it might help, even if just subconsciously.
Good luck.

I think a lot of sleep patterns are habitual. Sounds like you've established a habit of waking up during the night when you're in Spain (are you always in the same bed?).

I went through this a while back but just at home.... Up 6 or more times in the night. I forced myself to go back to sleep and ignore it now down to once or twice.

The psych thing was the first thing that sprung to mind ('scuse the pun). Since that's been ruled out, could it just be that you don't like sleeping in other beds (hotel beds) so you don't sleep as deeply and therefore notice when you need to go to the toilet?

Doesn't matter to me. I only sleep well in my own 20 year old bed with the same old saggy mattress with a mattress topper. Even in the nicest hotel, I still don't sleep as well.

I think its a sleep problem, not a bladder problem.

When you fall into a deep sleep the urge to empty your bladder is suppressed but if you are not sleeping soundly then your brain switches back to “awake” mode and you feel the need to go.

I have sleep apnoea and this happens to me if I dont use my mouthpiece, stopping me from sleeping deeply.

Weirdly, I recently went through a few days of urinating practically every hour during the day, and a couple of times during the night, which has never happened before. I hadn't changed anything, was just drinking water or the odd cup of decaf tea during the day as usual.

Just found myself needing a piss constantly. Was up and down to the toilet all day. Then after 2 or 3 days I went back to normal.

Bizarre.
