Having suffered with mild occasional leg cramps, over the last year or so they have slowly been getting worse, mainly at night.

So after having done a bit of internet research it seems Magnesium Citrate is good for easing the chances of getting them, but i have never really heard of it, so would it be something worth trying? Does anyone else use it?

Looking at the specs it looks like they are the size of goddam horse pills!

Read the label carefully, it's taken mainly for easing constipation!

Have you thought about hydration?

I used to get frequent leg cramps, including at night. Tried various things, including copper bracelets I was bought, despite being absolutely certain there was no way they could do anything, which annoyingly seemed to work, but the best solution for me is just making sure I drink plenty of water, and have some to hand to drink immediately the cramp starts which seems to help me get back to sleep quicker.

I suffered the same thing - cramp in my calves, mainly - and started taking Magnesium tablets.. The cramps disappeared and haven't come back. Even better, no change in my poo content or frequency!
The only problem is that the tablets that I bought from an Ebay supplier (Lindens, I think) are bloody massive! It's like trying to swallow a house brick twice a day. But, as I say, seems to work.

Have you tried adding salt to your water ?

Actually, that is a good point as I don't have a very salty diet, and i never add any additional salt to any meals so this may be something i could try as i am not convinced i could drink salty water!

And yes the tablets are bloody massive!

Had the problem for quite a few years.
Got worse when got diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
Got worse when reduced my salt intake.
Improved when I drank a bottle of tonic water each day (must contain quinine!), with or without gin.
Virtually disappeared when I started having a banana every day!

Where are you getting them?

I used to get them alot a few years ago. Hamstring cramp in the middle of the night will make the hardest men shiver up. It rates up there with the worst pain I have felt.

Loosing weight, proper warm up and warm down during excises. Water, magnesium. Stretching before bed. Wearing socks and Trousers in bed, keeping feet elevated during sleep. This has all helped.
