My wife has had a sore ankle for a couple of weeks - the left side of the left ankle to be exact.

It gets noticeably worse when she has no weight on it. She thinks it's not as painful when walking.

Appreciate it's how long is a piece of string, but any ideas?

Aside from this is there a place where one can complain about GP's? Hers operates the stupid same-day system, but you cannot get through to book a same-day appointment. Hence asking on here!

Do your GPs do e-consults? Can you self-refer to the local physio service? Google "MSK" and your county to find the local service.

Not my GP fortunately, although they are trying to make me move to one that only offers the same booking system...

Can't see a local referral option (Doncaster & Bassetlaw). I think they did offer a phone consult with a physio who may then suggest a scan. maybe. all a bit rubbish.

Arthritis and a strain/sprain would be my first choices in the absence of trauma. Unlikely to have fractured anything if it’s better on weight bearing. Indeed is a case of how long is a piece of string but most soft tissue injuries heal themselves within 6 weeks or so.

Maybe just take it easy for a few more weeks? If you can’t get a GP a private physio will be about £40 per session and you will probably get in same week.

Yep, looks like via a GP only.

Find a good local physio and pay them.

Yep, local physio & pay. GPs are useless for this sort problem anyway & if it's something more serious the physio will tell you to go to your doctor.
