Bit of a weird one, but the last week or so my right calf has been feeling a bit tight. Nothing unusual there, I am training quite a lot more than I used to years ago, boxing training twice a week, one weights session a week, plus cycling anything up to 50 miles a week. I’m stretching my calf out every time and it’s manageable.

The weird bit is my right thigh. Every now and again the back of my thigh feels hot, almost like having deep heat on it, or if I’ve got a heated seat on. It’s only on the right hand side, and if I touch the back of my thigh it doesn’t actually feel hot to the touch.

I’m guessing the two would be related, anyone got any ideas, or suggestions to mitigate it? It’s not painful or debilitating, just annoying and I’d rather fix it.

Have you been on any long journeys lately?
Do you spend a lot of time sitting down?
Is the heat closer to your knee than your butt?

Is the calf pain worse in the morning and then ease off during the day?

If you measure both calf’s circumference about 7cm below the knee cap are they different?

If you say “yes” to more of those than “no” then I’d be having a chat with the GP about the possibilities of it being a DVT. - and sharpish.

It sounds like you’ve irritated your sciatic nerve. I’d start with some specific stretches.

Luckily the answer to all those is no. I do get up and walk around regularly at work (car sales job), longest I spend sitting down is the 35 minutes in the car to and from work.

Calf pain itself is more of an irritation than pain, timing is mostly random; going about doing stuff then feel a slight tightness. Slightly more noticeable when doing boxing, and not noticeable at all during cycling.

“Heat” sensation also very random but more noticeable when sat down.

Thanks, I’ll look into this. We do have a physio at the gym could it be worth me booking an hour?
