Anyone on here suffered with Hand foot and mouth disease as an adult? I am currently 5 days in after catching it from our little darlings who caught it at nursery and Im in agony! Sore blisters all over hands and feet mean im hobbling like Im walking on glass shards, added to the fact my head and face is covered with sores/scabs that itch like a motherf#$€er! Sore throat and lost all taste to boot, other than sweet/salty. Anyone help with how long it will last for? I cant see it being over in 7-10 days like the 3 year olds! Miserable.

I had it in my mouth, absolute agony, it hurt to even talk and eating and drinking where near impossible. No wonder the kids were miserable.

I think mine lasted about 5 days, so you are probably on the way to recovery.

It’s possible I had it back in the Spring but only in my mouth. One of the most painful things I’ve experienced, hardly ate for a week or two. Was all over my gums and lips.

Thought I would update this with awakening in agony during the night with pain in my balls I can only describe like they had been stamped on by a bull. I have phoned the docs and apparently the virus has transfered to my testicles and caused epididymitis- virally swollen testicles. Great. I really didnt think this could get any worse and is 1000× worse than covid when I had it! Awaiting callback to see what can be done.

My daughter brought home HFMD and duly transferred it to me. I also ended up with the same, errr, 'issue' as you irked It took a while to subside and came back every once in a while whenever she brought back another disgusting disease from nursery and transferred it to me. I'll never forget the experience of having my balls ultrasound scanned.
