Use for several kgs of expired E45 Cream?
Discussion
Alzheimer’s suffering kleptomaniac has horded the above, about a dozen 500g pump bottles, and I have been tasked with disposing of it somehow. Expiry dates in 2020.
What a sickening waste. There must be people the world over who are suffering with skin conditions but who could never possibly afford to buy cream to treat it.
Surely it never really goes off? The principal ingredient is paraffin.
Nonetheless presumably the idea of donating it through established channels is a non-starter.
Can anyone use one of the unopened ones?
Is there any useful practical applications for it (non-medical?)
I am faced with scraping all the cream into the bin and putting the pump bottles in the recycling.

I once attended a sudden death of an elderly lady who'd managed to hoard a bin bag's worth of medication, including twenty or thirty tubes of E45. It was all on repeat prescription, a massive range of tablets, lotions, all sorts. It all had to be destroyed as it couldn't be re-distributed. Best thing you can do is bin the lot unfortunately.
From a "return to the pharmacy" option, this is certainly true for medication, and a lot of creams and lotions are medicated so would be best to go back.
E45 doesn't fall into this category, it would be best just to go to land fill. If you wanted to be a little better you could open them up and recycle the pot and pump with your normal plastic recycling.
Personally I'd keep a pot for myself and just use it even though it's expired, and chuck the rest.

Multiply this by thousands and you can see why the NHS is struggling, the wasted expense is staggering. Add to that the number of people getting basic medication free on prescription (paracetamol for example) and the cost to the NHS is staggering.WRT to the E45, the best before date is nothing to be worried about, I have it on good authority that it shouldn't go out of date.

Stick it on facebook marketplace, someone will have it.
Do NOT list it for free though! Put a nominal price in and you'll filter out most of the weirdos and timewasters who want it posted for free.
I'd counter that and say DO put it on for free. People will come and get pretty much anything if it is free.Do NOT list it for free though! Put a nominal price in and you'll filter out most of the weirdos and timewasters who want it posted for free.
I've got rid of loads of stuff that was too good for the tip but not good enough for ebay without any problems. The only one i ever delivered was a wardrobe, and i just asked for £10 for fuel. Never had anyone ask for anything to be posted, worst ive had is someone turning up a few hours after they said they would.
