Does anyone here take them?

I recently ruptured my Achilles and currently 6 weeks into a twelve week stint of wearing the boot.
I’m conscious of the fact that my age (52), manual work climbing ladders / scaffolding, and the sport I play all add to the risk of it either not healing fully or re rupturing.

Really need to do what I can to help it heal well, and collagen appears to be just something that *may* help?
Anything else that works?

Cheers.

Hi,

I started taking collagen tablets and cissus tablets about 6 months ago for a bicep/tendon injury and I have seen good results. It’s hard to know if this was down to collagen or the other many factors but I think there is no harm in giving your body as much help as possible for recovery.

Thanks.
Cissus looks interesting- might help cure my farmers too!

I started taking powder in my morning porridge every day about 3 months ago. Can't really say if there is any positives as most studies suggest it just gets broken down into normal protein in the gut... So at the very least it's 10g of protein I guess.

For me it's probably a bit of a placebo... Lol I'll keep taking it although I do get a little concerned that most seems to contain USA sourced bovine. I'm currently on a mixed powder (bovine, chicken and fish) I'll probably look around once this one has ran out.

I think it's a scam personally.

Collagen will get broken down into it's key amino acids when you digest it. You could argue that will give you the amino acids needed to build you own collagen, but a balanced diet with protein will give you this anyway.

I'd be looking at contacting a GP and/or physio.
