Not sure what specific muscle it is, but as I went to pick up the ball from the ground during tennis yesterday, I pulled something in my upper hamstring/glute towards the hip area. No pain whilst walking but it does twinge when getting up after sitting down, and the pain goes down my hamstring. Is this just a case of rest and ice and how long until I can get back into sport?

Guess ot depends upon age too but I did something similar a few weeks ago, stretching into the boot of the car. I'm 68, the niggling pain seemed to last a couple of weeks or more. it's funny but I'm reading your question and thinking "it doesn't hurt anymore" so it's fixed....

I pulled hamstring rugby training, egg shape bruise on the back of my leg and everything. Six weeks later playing again but I did have weekly physiotherapy, which was particularly unpleasant but worked.

It was still a bit tight for the first few weeks and had to be careful warming up (unlike when I twanged it).

Actually feels much better today, although I've ruled myself out of football tomorrow as a precaution.

Is it too early to foam roll the area yet?
