Blood pressure
Discussion
I take 2.5mg ramipril for high BP. 18 months now
I’m around 130/85 in the morning
52 yrs old
Plenty of exercise
My issue is in the evening after sitting for a while. Get up and feel the rush of blood to the head as things try to catch up. Not a big deal but a bit iffy
Don’t notice it any other time, getting up in morning etc
Any thoughts?
GP visit might be an idea but so would winning the lotto lol

What do you mean by rush of blood to the head?
Usually when you relax and are tired on a night it’s the other way around, you get up and go light headed.
Are you getting the inverse? Ok and then stand up and you get a surge in BP?
Do you check BP regularly given you’re on medication for it?
Any tension? Neck and shoulders tense?
Getting plenty of sleep?

"Free" generally means some one some where is paying for it. Another article said the pharmacy would by paid £45 by the NHS.High Street chemists to offer free blood pressure checks

My GP's surgery has recently started loaning out monitors (instead of a 24 hour ambulatory monitor) so that patients can read their own for a week. They agreed that most would disappear and end up on Ebay within a year though.
I've now bought the same one for £22 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/OMRON-X2-Basic-Automatic-...
I think anyone taking BP medicine should be buying their own.

.
I never knew that. I've been taking 10mg in the morning for 15 years now and never felt any side effects. Maybe I should take it at bedtime. .
ETA: off the NHS site:
Your very first dose of ramipril may make you feel dizzy, so it's best to take it at bedtime. After that you can take ramipril at any time of day
Thanks all
Cycle about 60-80 miles a week. Train with weights(lighter these days)
And do more than 10,000 steps every day during work.
Trying to best describe what happens.
I get off the sofa and by the time I’m in the kitchen I can feel the pumping up to my head. Then it subsides. Don’t really go dizzy but I suppose it’s towards that side of things.
I notice more pressure when bending over too.
As an aside,Dad had a stroke at 57!
Bad but still(just) with us.

Interesting, I take my 2.5mg at night mainly for convenience reasons. Recently my doctor asked when I usually took the tablet, and she seemed surprised it was the evening, remarking most people chose the morning. She didn't offer any medical advice either way.
