I've just found out my old man has what is believed to be Ataxic Gait, I was wondering anyone had any experience with this with relatives or friends? Trying to wrap my head around what it means which is a little hard as I'm on the other side of the world from my parents.

Ataxic gait is a term used to describe a kind of off-balance, poorly co-ordinated walking. As in, your gait (the way you walk) is ataxic.

There are quite a number of things that could cause someone to have an ataxic gait; it's not a diagnosis on its own. I'd probably start by trying to find out what is thought to be causing it.

Thanks, from what I can tell the specialist has said it's Ataxia causing the issues with his walking (he's not the most mobile!) Mind you he's not getting any younger. I'm hoping it's something that can be treated but reading online it's not, mind you reading online isn't a good thing for any information regarding illness!
