I won't bore you with the details, but I had another fairly significant 'off' my mountain bike. Nothing broken this time, bit some fairly significant soft tissue injuries.

The internal bleeding stopped after a few days and the bruising (3/5 of the entire leg) has gone after a few weeks. Skin nerve function is slowly recovering.

However the hip is still grotesquely swollen- think highly obese people, but only on one side and very localised. Gentle massage is being used, I can't roll it - any tips for helping the swelling go please?

Will investigate, thank you.

Nothing decent of the swelling, but some of the bruising... This was day four, it continued to get worse.

I have done, twice. When they realised I was telling the truth about not breaking bones they were utter disinterested.

The bruising has gone, so the bleeding has stopped is their take - it's now how to remove the swelling from the tissue.

Not according to xrays and they weren't willing to do a scan as I'm still mobile.... Kind of stuck.

Are you taking any painkillers? Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory, so taking that should help. Read up on it and decide for yourself how much to take and for how long.

Yep, but no help unfortunately. I'm still having to take pain killers to actually sleep. But thanks anyway!

Might be worth seeing a sports injury specialist (physiotherapy type person) with that lot, to speed up recovery if nothing else. Bruising like that is in the "months" category, not days or weeks.

rofl Sorry all!

Argh, I can't under that.

Yes, booked in with a soft tissue therapist next week - will let you lot know if there's any magic cure.

Arnica as people have said, also get some Biofreeze. - ice pack in a tube.
Lots of rest and if you can elevate the leg when you’re resting that will help.

Saw my soft tissue guy today. Foam roll the area around the swelling to clear the pathways, then ice.

Gentle non jarring exercise will also help.

Its going to take a while...

Well, if this ever happens to you, fight for better treatment. I was found to have a Morelle-Lavellee lesion and had a good amount of liquid removed from it. The hip is still 4 inches bigger than the other one and my life is majorly impacted by this injury. Can’t run. Can’t walk with limping. In constant pain and NHS can’t be arsed.

A warning for all. Exercise isn’t good for you hehe
