A colleague I work has been diagnosed with cancer, and it's terminal given a few months to live.

After speaking to various people, one good friend of mine has told me about cannabis oil. Not the cbd stuff being sold at Holland and Barrett, but far more potent stuff that is rather expensive, but strongly claims its a treatment that he should try. He's said he knows someone that cooks the stuff, and he's convinced it work.

What your thoughts on it?

If the person who has been diagnosed has the £££ and is willing to part with it, its worth a shot, life is priceless after all.

Macmillan have a page about cannabis oil and cancer on their website, basically there isn’t enough research yet, but it can cause some cancers to grow. Given your friend has been given months to live he probably doesn’t have much to lose in giving it a go, but it is fanciful to think that he will be cured.

I'm not sure what your friend thinks the effects of cannabis oil will be on terminal cancer. It certainly won't cure it.

If it were me I'd be taking the proper stuff so at least I'd be chilled out while I die.

I’d spend the money on fine wine, cigars and lobsters in his shoes.

My thoughts are that, if he is receiving palliative care, he'll have access to drugs more effective than CBD oil.

That's gonna make walking tricky. The man's got enough st to deal with without having crustaceans in his sneakers.

Having lost both parents to cancer in quick succession I would advise your friend to focus on getting the most out of their life and getting as many pain killers as possible.

My brother died a couple of years ago from a brain tumour at 30. Allegedly they had removed it all a couple of years earlier, he was on 6 month scans which had all shown no growth at all until the one which found it had come back and was inoperable.

He spent his final months wasting tens of thousands on CBD oil - money he didn't have and was largely stumped up by family members who felt they couldn't say no. He threw himself into that and all sorts of weird diets and in my view wasted much of the time he had left. It made not a jot of difference.

Billions has been and continues to be spent on cancer research - if there was a simple option like CBD I'm pretty sure it would have been found by now. It's all nonsense from people praying on the desperate IMO.

Of the handful of people I've seen die of cancer, those who make sensible choices around treatments - avoiding those with little success of working but that will make them extremely ill for months regardless of whether they work and accept the situation they are in is beyond their control have been able to make the most of the time they had left. I'm sure others have a different view, "fighting cancer" seems to be the done thing but like any fight it's better not to start fights you can't win.

A friend used this type of CBD oil (more like a resin than an oil), up the arse.

Helped a lot with pain/symptoms. Have to slowly ramp up the dosage though!

I have a benign tumour and have seen many a doctor for various treatments on offer. I spoke to a very good London doctor who was open to suggestion. I mentioned CBD as well as LDN (Low dose Naltrexone) which is also, all the rage.

His response was by all means give it a go, but have low expectations as he viewed them as more fad than anything else.

I tried them with an open mind. Even got my CBD from Switzerland at great cost. They both did literally..........nothing!!!

There's a lot of marketing around CBD and a lot of money to be made out of desperate people. I now file it all under "Apple Cider Vinegar", another magic potion that people believe cures everything, but in most cases just burns your throat!

Sorry to hear about your friend. No harm in trying things, just best not put all your eggs in one basket. I look at Steve Jobs, a man with all the money in the world, went for a homeopathic cure for cancer and it didn't pay off.

I was given some CBD oil gratis by the manager at our local health food place. She told me how brilliant it was. It tasted like minty chip fat and appeared to have precisely no benefit to me whatsoever.

ACV on the other hand I go find helpful for a dodgy gut. However you need to dilute it to save your teeth and throat.
