I've just had confirmation that I have COVID, despite having had two jabs.

Symptoms started on Saturday and by Monday were like the flu. Yesterday I felt very achy and had pressure in my skull. Today, I feel much better, Though washing one of the cars left me tired and in need of a nap.

I have a minor cough, only slightly raised temperature and my smell and taste are fine.

Has anyone else here caught it, after both jabs?

any thoughts where it might have been picked up, we did a big car show at peterborough show ground, american, drag, and the pocket rockets, some lovely cars but thousands no masks, no distancing, once home took the test, negative, never felt so anxious at an event, and that was a covid precaution event allegedly.

god knows what it will be like once its all opened up again

hope you feel better soon

Didn't think the jabs stop you catching it, just that they minimise the impact/severity of the symptoms?

I don't know, honestly. My family are all negative.

My best GUESS is that I caught it from an unvaccinated teenager, who served me at a restaurant, I have been eating out a lot and very often the serving staff are Uni students.

I am quite surprised how severe the symptoms are despite being vaccinated. However, so far it seems like flu on fast forwards, so maybe it will disappear quickly.

Seems to tally with what my partner sees (ITU medic), the ‘proper sick’ people they have now are unvaccinated (most having been invited and turned down the jab).

Yep, something like 98% chance of stopping you ending up in hospital. Lower with the Indian variant.

I would say they should be charged the full amount but then that policy could extend to the obese or those who do DIY, extreme sports, sports, drive etc so I won't say that. biggrin

Whilst the jabs don't stop you catching it, they do significantly reduce the risk of catching it, and reduce the effects if you are unfortunate to catch it.

You took a test as soon as you got home? Why? Even if you caught it there it wouldn’t show up that quick, it would take a few days.

If you’ve been double jabbed, there is nothing more you can do other than take care of your immune system by living well, not being overweight etc. You WILL catch covid at some point so there’s no point worrying about it.

An aside. Now that I have tested positive I am being bombarded with text messages and emails from the NHS. So much so that I have blocked them on my mobile.

It doesn't make me any more confident about downloading the app.

This. For every person posting that they've got it after 2 jabs, there are 3 others who aren't posting because although they were exposed, the jabs stopped them getting it.

It's strange that people don't understand this.

Even OP catching it whilst being double jabbed, presuming he caught it from an unvaccinated teenager!

The jabs don't stop you catching covid.

They appear to reduce the chance you'll catch/spread it.

They massively reduce the odds of you getting sick and going to hospital.

I’m double jabbed, had covid 2 weeks ago, I had a call off T&T every other day. They were always very polite and at the end of each call they thanked me for isolating.

I was glad when I got this message:

To be honest, I’m going to delete the app off my phone as cases are going to go fking mental over the next few months!

The jabs are seemingly really only helping to keep viral load below the dangerous threshold that triggers the over reaction in the immune system, in a lot of people, which was ( still is ) killing them originally. That’s a ‘win’ from the medic’s point of view, even though it may not seem like that much of a win for people who are still getting ill, after both jabs.

33% of those infected have no symptoms, 80% have either no or mild symptoms etc. People seem to get very carried away when even when the numbers of "bad" covid are minimal now.

To be fair, the virus not killing me is a win from my standpoint too! But what I have had over the past few days certainly doesn't feel win-like.

I had both OAZ vaccinations and tested positive last week. Three days off work, one day in bed. Day 11 now and have a lingering cough, and some fatigue, otherwise good. Back doing strenuous exercise, but not running.

To be fair, I had underlying health issues which is why I had my vaccinations early, and these did notably affect my white cell counts. So it's perhaps not unsurprising that at the time my response to the vaccine was limited.

Despite that however, anecdotally, my recovery time from the initial symptoms was the same as my young children, which could easily be some positive merit of the vaccines. Also, the importance of the a positive outlook knowing you're not probably not going to be one of the unlucky few who end up in hospital, can't be understated either.
