It's a drag getting old, to paraphrases Jagger.

I've come back from the opticians with news that I need 3 different prescriptions (or varifocals, or some combination). In any case, I need to spunk money on eyewear of some sort.

I've put in for some new frames and lenses, but I have a really nice pair (well, I like them) from a while ago, which you still seem to be able to get.

So I was wondering how I get my new prescription lenses put in these frames? I was hoping I could send them off, as the optician I got them from (David Clulow on Bishopsgate) is pretty inconvenient at this stage, given the WFH.

Anyone got thoughts on this?

I took a pair to visionexpress and got new varifocal lenses fitted no problem

I believe they were originally from Specsavers

Same here, frames originally from Specsavers but re-glazed by Scrivens.

It's better than the alternative, to paraphrase Maurice Chevalier.

I used one of the online sites for budget glasses with my old prescription during lockdown - took a couple of weeks to come, but very happy with them. Never spending £300 on the high street again. (These new ones came in at about £36)

some will and some wont - or they will say 'at your own risk' so if they break them putting the lenses in then 'tough sh*t'. Worth a try though
