Anyone?

Thinking of going this route for my wife and me. We live in the sticks and half the time the local pharmacy only gives half the drugs.

Any recommendations?

"live in the sticks"
Does your GP surgery dispense?
If so your stickness(!) category* will define whether they can include you.

*distance of your home from a pharmacy.

I lived in a small Cotswold village with a GP practice who dispensed 2.4mi away (Google maps). That was far enough. On the few occasions they didn't have my stuff I went to the nearest other pharmacy...
...next door to the doctors. Yes really smile
Fortunately the two pharmacies used different distributors/wholesalers (don't know the correct term) so gaps were filled.
It was very useful having a pharmacy attached to the surgery as any queries were more swiftly managed.

Ask who your doctor will let you pick up prescriptions from. There might be a list in the surgery if your ever allowed in.
My doctors has a list of 7 or 8 pharmacies that will accept their scripts.
Lloyds(stand alone) are usually bad at having stuff in stock.
Boots are better
Instore supermarket pharmacies are usually ok
The local pharmacy companies are usually the best though.

Sometimes driving a bit further to get your prescrition is worth it because you can guarantee you will get it.

I feel your pain

One pharmacy in town with Julie (two soups) Walters as the counter assistant.

I'd go to an online pharmacy but I've heard pretty poor reviews, plus hassle resolving problems.

Ask the pharmacy to get the drugs in ready for you so that there are no owings.

However, there are absolutely loads of MCS (manufacture cannot supply) at the moment which is a real pain for pharmacies and patients. So provided that the item is not a mcs then a phone call one or 2 days before might solve your problem.

All pharmacies who accept electronic scripts- which is virtually all of them in the country- will accept scripts from the GPs. All they have to do is send it to the ODS of the pharmacy. It is not correct that they will only send it to a list of pharmacies that they deem to be acceptable.
If you want it to be sent to any other pharmacy in the Country then phone that pharmacy up and ask them for their ODS code. Then tell the doctors to send it there. They are obliged to do so.

Theoretically you can request a token and then take this token into any pharmacy for them to download it from the spine from the barcode on the token. However many surgeries are reluctant to do this which is wrong. You have the right to have your prescription dispensed a a pharmacy of your choice. (Note a token is not a prescription but gives the information for the pharmacy to download the electronic script. )
It is considered highly unethical to direct a patient to a particular pharmacy.

Unfortunately many doctors receptionists are not well versed in the system and do not want the hassle of doing something slightly different or have not been well trained in the first place.

Oh well. Just saying there was a few pharmacies that my gp uses regularly. I have there is a few diffrent brands on the list. If the OP was having trouble getting products from one pharmacy brand. Try one of the others on the list without having to hunt about for codes etc.
I ues lyndsey and gilmour. The gp also has lloyds or boots branches on the list. A different brand may be able to supply better thsn the other.

I use Echo. I think it's run by Lloyds Chemist. I can manage both mine and husbands medications through one app login and medication is delivered via Royal Mail usually within a few days.
Used them for almost a year now without issue.

I use pharmacy2u and have only once had an issue, but they have an online chat and was quickly resolved. Deliveted by royal mail. Your GP will have to be on their list though.
