I would imagine this to have little or no replies but wondering if anyone has experience of VOR problems
and if so what was your experience?.

VOR controls our balance and visual stability, and is one of the fastest reflexes in the human body.

One of the main symptoms is objects moving in the opposite direction to where your head moves, if you look
at a static object like a picture on the wall for example, and keep your eyes fixed on it whilst at the same time
moving your head left and right, the static object appears to move in the opposite direction to your head movement.

Seeing this indicates a problem with the signal going from the inner ear to the brainstem and the eyes.

Anyone?

I was having vertigo like symptoms around 6 months ago but the doctor didn't think I actually had it but something very similar. When I got up from sitting down it was like a head rush, the doctor printed out some instructions on how to reset myself and found this video really helpful.

I didn't complete all the exercises but went as far as I felt was right, also didn't do it everyday just every other day andthen when it started coming back I done the exercises twice a day again and then seen how many days i would be okay until the next off balance feeling. It pietered out in the end.

My Dad suffers with VOR following a pretty nasty bump on the head resulting in a brain injury.

He has been seeing a chap in Great Portland Street called Dr Peter Savundra, I think that’s his name, from what I understand he is one of the leading Dr’s / Professors in this area.

My dads diagnosis and treatment was funded via an insurance company, I understand he costs a few quid, but the difference he made to my Dads quality of life was immense with some very basic treatment.

I came down with this back in early 18, it can be very debilitating and not easy to get to the bottom of it. It can in some instances be caused by a brain tumour known as an " Acoustic Neuroma", I had to have an MRI to check for this. I was told that in my case it was down to an autoimmune response for some reason on the vestibular nerve. Spent a lot with ENT experts at Spires who recommended what were simple head movement exercises 2 x times a day, it took about 6 months to get back to about 99% of feeling correct. Can also recommend this chap Dr Shamuga Surenthiran, he is the leader in this type of problem. Have a look at VOR Gaze Stabilisation Exercises, these are a big help, you may need to cut out stimulants like Coffee, choc, etc for a while. But most important thing is to get a correct diagnosis several things can cause the same symptom's but the treatments are different.
