My Dr thinks I may have asthma which is more prevalent when I'm running, so prescribed Ventolin disks 200mcg.

Problem I'm finding is, when I use it, after a few mins I'm coughing like a MF'er and coughing up gunk. It goes away after a run.

Is this normal ??

I always cough up a good bit of lung butter when I run / cycle in cold weather (don't have asthma nor a smoker).

I wouldn't say coughing like a MF'er is normal at all, but the powder can definitely irritate your throat so I'd try slipping some water afterwards and seeing if that helps.

Ventolin also comes as a spray. Might be worth asking for a change

I used to use the spray. It turned out that I was allergic to the propellent, so it made things worse.

While i have always drunk water when i use it, it has never caused me to cough up gunk.

But when i am cycling, my left nostril streams clear mucus at a unbelievable rate. I presume that is stored in my sinuses, rather than my lungs.
