Hello

Had Covid back in Jan, nasty dose, only back to health/energy a couple of weeks ago really. Only lingering symptom I think is lack of smell, as in, I can't smell some things, like cat piss.

Something else changed about 5 weeks ago, when I suddenly noticed all my farts and bowel movements started smelling *exactly* the same as each other, and *exactly* the same every single time, and unlike anything i've ever had previously. And you know what i mean when you know your own farts, well i don't recognise these.

I thought I had some sort of wierd gastro problem, but just realised it may be covid related. The smell is the same as i've also noticed outside the local indian takeaway and a burger van. Its not particularly offensive, a bit like cooking onions but not really. Odd and very hard to explain.

Anyone else noticed similar? Does this sound like some sort of gastro issue, or could as I now think be a hangover from covid?

Thanks

There was a recent podcast on this. Basically it is the nasal nerves growing back and potentially your brain being confused.

I can imagine it is very distressing. Hopefully the podcast will help.

It did, thanks again. Really interesting, especially how it all came on a few weeks after covid so I didn't really make the connection and assumed there must be something else going on. There is an article on the bbc news site today about it too, coincidentally, and how some people need to retrain their sense of smell.

Thanks for that podcast link.

I had Covid between Christmas and New Year. Now, sometimes I smell sulphur like a coal fire. Other times I smell chlorine like a swimming pool. I hate it. frown
