I presume you'll be ignoring the notification then?

I wouldn’t bother, I think they said only about 11% are complying and that was in dec. it’ll be even less now. Plus most people aren’t getting tested if they know they have symptoms. So it’s completely unreliable.

Me and my wife tested positive on Monday, had loads of calls from track and trace.

Missed quite a few and if you don’t answer, they call once every 2 hours.

Still, it’s only four days, and there isn’t much you can do at the moment so just get a test and make sure you are ok.

I think he means for me. I can't get a test unless I show symptoms. I haven't had any symptoms at all but I have had the vaccine about 4 weeks ago. If I tell porky pies (and I won't) to get a test then it renders the vaccine less effective so a no win situation for anyone.

Sorry, yes, 4 days for the OP, but ten days from start of symptoms or test date if you are asymptomatic.

My 10 days of isolation as meant I have had time to do plenty of jobs at home and the cars are now nice and clean!

I’ve a day or so to go now. Did a lat flow test yesterday. One of the neighbours dropped it off at the doorstep. Not positive so good news!

How does swabbing your throat and hooter and sending it off for a test render the vaccine less effective?

To get a test I would have had to say I had symptoms. I haven’t got any symptoms. If I would have lied about symptoms saying I have got temperature/ cough / struggling to breathe etc then the vaccine wouldn’t be working would it…..

My first test back in jan was negative but i did it because my family members had tested positive but my symptoms - as awful as i felt - were not on the usual suspects list. That was negative and then 2 days later i went for another test as my symptoms persisted, and that second test was positive. I only got the lack of smell and high temp 2 days after that second positive test. Incidentally none of my group followed the usual symptoms. Technically my isolation ran from the second test iirc, but i'd had felt terrible for nearly a week before that.

I think T&T focus far too much on the smell/temp/cough but they agreed on the phone many people get different symptoms early on.

From what I've read online.....and its a minefield. You can get a test kit if you do not have symptoms. You can get a test if you do have symptoms. If you are told to stay at home from track and trace, you must stay at home (no test site visit) and even if you test negative then you must continue until your days are up staying at home and self isolating.

are they still up to this nonsense?

I wanted a test about last sept after a headsup by someone I'd been talking to, but only way was to claim symptoms but that would have meant I'd have to stop work and isolate as if I didn't do that and then tested positive AND claimed symptoms...

Utterly farcical, as someone who's job requires going in many different peoples homes constantly you think it'd be them demanding I get tested, routinely, rather than witholdinglaugh

I might be missing your point but the vaccine isn't 100% effective.

Daughter works in the NHS and one of her colleagues got Covid early on, has had both vaccinations and has Covid again now.

Gotcha. So rather than actually making it less effective, you’d just be fudging the Governments figures. With you now.

And this is the misunderstanding isn’t it.
The vaccine doesn’t, and isn’t intended to stop you catching it. It’s meant to limit the symptoms so you don’t become very poorly/die.
Covid is here to stay, but if vaccinated it shouldn’t present much worse than the common cold, if you get any symptoms at all.
