Over 40 and through a combination of job change, lockdown and general realisation on my health i am making much more time for a variety of exercise types. Weightlighting, running and mountain biking for fun. I am getting a bit more achy and painy(sp).

A couple of mates have tried massage guns and swear by them despite my incessant p*ss taking that they are evidently massive motor powered dildos.

Anyone here tried them, have insight or can confirm their efficacy?

Don’t think twice and buy one. Got ours a year ago on Amazon, brand is Fylina, it was £80 and has been brilliant. It’s powerful, multiple heads and has been faultless. Don’t waste your money spending £200+ on a professional one.

Never tried one of those but I have one of these and it’s superb.

My physio doesn't think much of them - they are an impact on the muscle, which makes the muscle tense. So how does it get from tense to relaxed when still being impacted?

But then again, a lot of people swear by them. Ah well....

Eddie Hall (the strongman) uses a random orbit car polisher for this purpose, does the same job.

You can see him using it on many of his Youtube vidoes.

I got one of these recently when I had pulled a muscle in my back only £32 but worked brilliantly was back to normal in a couple of days.
The heat function wasn't up to much but massage wise it was great.

Also bought a heat Cape thing that you wear like a waistcoat, like a wearable electric blanket, recommend to me by the physio.
Also good for helping with muscle relaxation.

I've had one for a while and feel it makes a positive difference.

Perhaps not close to a pro physio but still a positive difference.

It vibrates the muscle and gets the blood flowing rather than impacting it. I wouldn't be without mine. I got a cheapy £80 one from Amazon.

I have a Taotronics and it's honestly brilliant for me.
I had PF and knew it was a result of other muscle tightness. For 4 months I've used mine 6 days a week and I have no PF now and it's reduced my cramping calves in the night from monthly to only once in 4 months

I still do stretching but I would recommend

Not the same thing but imo it’s worth getting a foam roller. I’ve used one fairly regularly for a long time and they help with muscle tightness.

I was having problems with my arms (knots forming, and general pain until I saw someone for a sports massage type appointment), but that has all stopped since buying a Theragun. Quite pricey, but relieved all the pain, and now go over my arms and shoulders with it once a month, and had no pain as a result.

Plantar faciitus?

Same story for me, had cortisone injections etc and loads of physio that I still keep up as it was all caused by my tight calves. Post stretch I'll give everything a blast with my massage gun, including the bottoms of my feet and it always feels amazing.

Mine was a £50 quid Amazon job and its been great.

Does anyone have joint hyper mobility syndrome and use a massage gun to relieve the pain?

Wait, people actually use these for massaging? Come on they're just a less obvious Hitachi Wand, aren't they?

You havent experienced one. Seriously powered vibrations....if it was to be erm... used in a romantic way it would be like the riot squad kicking in your front door. You'd have to be on the far end of the masochist scale to want to try it!

Needless to say when my friend suggested one to me i called him a wrong 'un and wondered he he bought himself an Anal Invader 6000.

Massage Gun. For Sports Massages, right?
