Pulsating abdomen
Discussion
Morning guys,
Ive had an annoying, but pain free, pulse in my lower left abdomen half way between bottom tip of my left rib cage and hip bone. Its triggered every time i sit down and starting to bug me now. Ive had it for 3 days straight. You can visually see it too when it does it. When i stand up it dissapears
Something to worry about or has anyone had this before?

How are your bowels?
No, seriously. Your symptoms are exactly as mine were (but over a much longer period) and eventually prompted a visit to the doctor, leading to blood tests and an MRI, amongst other things.
Turns out I have diverticular disease (which is pitting in the wall of the colon - making things bubblier in my guts. More common from your mid-40's, and sometimes associated with a diet lower in fibre than it should be.
I seem to be affected by certain foods, which may be wheat intolerance, as beer, pizza and the like (all the good stuff, basically) of an evening pretty much guarantee me multiple "I'd leave it 5 minutes if I were you" pebbledashing sessions the following morning. I hadn't really linked the two things together but it's all gut health stuff. Have a google, and perhaps a word with the doc.
This may, of course, be nothing to do with what ails you, in which case I've just shared my poo misery with the nation for no reason.

Is it a pulse, as it associated with your heartbeat, or is it a muscle twitch?
I'd describe it as a fluttering. It would come and go, but I noticed it more when sitting or lying down - possibly because of being more relaxed in posture. Pain-free, but annoying, and in exactly the spot you mention.Mr Pointy said:

Its rhythmic, so assuming hert beat related. As for my bowels they are all fine an dandy. Im 36, no other health issues apart from pigging out a bit too much during lockdowns and needing to shift about a stone and a half of podge.
Im not worrying at this stage, but google (i know i shouldnt) throws up all sorts of aneurysms and generally things that can kill me as possibilties.

Does your surgery have e-consultation facilities? If not try ringing 111.

Another vote for the possibility of DD. No, seriously. Your symptoms are exactly as mine were (but over a much longer period) and eventually prompted a visit to the doctor, leading to blood tests and an MRI, amongst other things.

I've suffered with it for about 8 years and the 'fluttering' in the descending colon is one of my symptoms which may then lead to a full-blown attack.
Horrible, painful problem which recurs once you've had it and can be potentially very dangerous. Get it checked out pronto!

To the OP glad to hear the problem has resolved itself. My guess (and it is a guess) is a nerve or muscular spasm.
