Evening all,

An interesting question.... I bought these vitamin tablets a while back, I cant remember if it was from B&M or Aldi or where, but it was a big chain and not some dodgy corner shop/internet site,
I dont take them every day, but I do take one a day if I'm feeling under the weather or a bit run down.
However, every time I take one, about an hour later I have a 5 minute spell of feeling nauseous before it passes again and all is fine.
Can anyone tell me please if this is a likely side effect of any of the ingredients on the label, or if I ought to be contacting the makers to report an adverse event as per pharma industry norms?

TIA

Are you taking them on an empty stomach?

Not fully empty, no - they live in my locker at work, if I have one it's when I get in first thing. I'll have always had breakfast of a bit of toast or crumpets before leaving the house, but obviously I'm not full up like a proper meal

It's the Zinc.

I take Zinc and Magnesium tablets, and if I take these on an empty stomach, I feel ill. This affect is well documented.

Eat something first, and try them then.

Cheers,

I'll try them with lunch in future and see if it makes a difference!

I thought you should always take them with food (or more crucially, a fat source) to make sure they’re absorbed properly anyway? Is that just an urban myth?

Whilst pregnant with our youngest my OH had constant "morning sickness" until the birth. It only lasted an hour maximum, then she felt fine. Sometimes she would actually vomit but mostly it was nausea. She had no sickness at all with our eldest.

A few weeks ago she was feeling a bit run down/off colour, and noticed some unused Pregnacare vitamin tablets in the bathroom so she took one. Half hour later she's feeling sick. Rinse and repeat the following day, on the third day the penny dropped - the vitamins make her feel sick. She'd popped them every day for 9 months whilst she was pregnant and not realised!
