Want to get some more cardio in. Have a watt bike. An elliptical trainer. What’s better a water rower or fan? Thanks

The question I asked was “concept II or other?”

I bought a Concept II. It’s what I used for training when I rowed, and still, I believe, is the best.

If you don’t get on with it you can normally sell it on eBay for a couple of hundred pounds less than you paid.

Concept 2 all day long.

I was asking a similar question a couple of years back & did a huge amount of research as they’re not cheap. There’s a reason all the top flight rowers generally use Concept 2 - they’re still the best (in my researched view).

Online scene for them is huge if that’s your thing, and it’s a good motivator seeing how you’re doing in your weight & age group. I use it more in the darker months.

I’m an avid Wattbiker too - rower adds another element. No workout like it!

Yes that’s the question I had. Concept 2 or other.
Thanks for the replies.

Concept 2 every time. I paid £600 for my Model C about 15 years ago (2nd hand). It lives outside under a cover with minimal maintenance. Only problems its had was a new pick up cable and screen a few years back. Could still sell it for £600 today.

Great bits of kit.

I can’t remember the rower brands, but I used to row and train 5 days a week. I thought the water filled machines were dreadful. Fans were a lot more pleasant to use.

I went for a Waterrower having mainly used Concept 2s when I rowed and in the gym.
It's quieter and easier to store.

As an added bonus, with a fan tower you get a nice cooling puff of air with every stroke.

Mine's magnetic. I've got a Proform 750R which is out of stock everywhere at present. Have a look at Nordictrack as well (Proform sister company) as they have the RW850 in stock if you want iFit integration. That rower is Air/Magnetic.

I’ve been using a concept 2 5 times a week for the last 2 months. The weight 9is falling off I’m down about 10 kilos and not adjusted diet.

If storage is a problem the model I’ve got just splits.

I bought a power row water rower in the end. I have used a concept 2 for over a decade in the work gym - now closed. The water sound is soothing and interesting to watch. I cannot say there is a noticeable difference between the two but my triathlete friend swears by the concept 2. The wooden frame is a nice touch.

IMO got to be a Concept 2!

Main reason is the huge online community - you have access to online rankings / competitions etc

Even if competing is not your thing, you have a great online resource to turn to for advice.

Also, Concept 2 customer service is great. I have a Model C (current version is the Model D) which must be around 20 years old but even now virtually all of the components are available to buy new from C2 at low prices.

These machines are virtually indestructible! There is a reason why commercial gyms / the military etc use them. They really take the abuse well.

I bought my machine for £180 in 2014, it needed a new sensor pickup (£20) and has been used for millions of metres since. I have upgraded the monitor to the latest spec and could sell it today for £500 all day long.

Get a C2!!

Concept 2. I have a Waterrower, because my wife wanted it. It is much better looking and quieter. It is an excellent thing. But I think I prefer Concept 2.
