Vaccine side effects
Discussion
I had the OAZ vaccine on Thuirsday and there has been some side effects, probably worse than I anticipated. I have to say that the side effects would not deter me from having the vaccine.
1. General feeling of being unwell, a bit like flu
2. Aching muscles, especially in my back
3. Feeling cold and shivery.
4. One side of my face was very warm.
5. Complete loss of appetite, others have described this as feeling sick.
6. Pain where the needle went in, this is minor but if you usually sleep just on one side have the other arm injected.
7. Moderate to severe headache
1,2 and 3 were fixed with paracetomol This is now day 3 and apart ftom minor pain on the injection site and loss of appetite all the side effects have gone.
I wasn't using my car but I would not have driven long distances on Days 1 and 2.
My neighbour had no side effects at all, others say that the side effects are worse if you have had Covid, I think I had it in May.
Have to say that the organisation of the site and the entire vaccination process was brilliant as was the ease of use of the website.

Aren't these normal side effects of any vaccine?
What your feeling is an immune response, exactly as planned I would have thought.
That's what a GP colleague told me. She said that if you have a supressed immune system you are more likely to experience side effects. What your feeling is an immune response, exactly as planned I would have thought.
My O/H, whose immune system is weak, spent two days in bed after her vaccination as she felt so rough - that was the AstraZenica vaccine. A BiL felt bad for a week with the Pfizer vaccine. On the other hand, all I felt (AZ again) was a very slight overnight soreness in my arm.
Had the Pfizer on 3/2, and didn't even feel the needle, and no side effects. But our neighbour, a nurse, told me I probably will have side effects from the second one next month. We'll see. I'm 75.
ETA But had to giggle at the pen I was given since I didn't have one with me! Someone at least has a sense of humour!

My o/h had an anaphylactic reaction to the OAZ vaccine about a month ago. She does have strange reactions, and she attended a special clinic with full resuss on standby to have the jab. Took about 5 mins to react with a BP of 186/100. She spent the rest of the morning on anti-histamines & adrenaline, then then transferred to the emergency response unit for the rest of the day. Getting a phone call on her phone from the doctor looking after her wasn’t great, especially when he told me what had happened, but waited until the 6th thing he said to say she was ok.
Like the virus itself if appears to vary, my partner had hers on a Friday and was a write off most of the following day including a long nap, others have had to have a day or two off work, but some have also been fine. That was the pfizer. Parents also had theres.
However ultimately if the symptoms worry you, and still arnt clearing, book and appointment (likely over the phone) with your GP or ring 111.

Interesting responses, thank you.
In a completely unscientific manner, I would say to anyone who is driving or operating machinery and who has had Covid during the year and who is given the OAZ vaccine then they may want to consider having a day off following the vaccine. Personally, i would not have wanted to drive a PSV or operate machinery on Day One. I appreciate that some of you have had no side effects.

Just read the BBC website on vaccine side effects
They report:
Common reactions that may affect up to one in 10 people and typically get better within days include:
sore arm
headache
chills
tiredness
feeling sick
fever
dizziness
weakness
aching muscles
In my experience they are spot on, not that the side effects would deter me from having something that could save my life, It is just that I would not want risk other peoples lives in driving a bus or a train on Day One

I had OAZ on Wednesday 17 Feb . Had flu like and bad headache that night, took paracetamol and felt a bit wrung out Thursday.
All good by Friday, I consider the short term side affects a small price to pay for the protection I’ve been given and have no regrets about having had the jab.

Oxford jab here, 39 year old male
Had it a few weeks back, Friday at 6.30pm. Had taken my Mom and asked, and they offered it to me.
Woke up at 2am Saturday, and have been ill ever since!
Hot/cold/hot/cold. Loads better that I was, small price to pay I guess.
