I've recently started jogging. I dislike taking my phone with me as I find it a right pain. I'd like to be able to GPS track and save my runs using some sort of Fit Bit watch type device. Not being up together on this sort of thing (fitness or technology) I'd appreciate guidance. Budget up to £100 or thereabouts. Thanks!

I bought a used Polar M400 and H7 heart rate monitor for £60 from Ebay. It's yesterdays tech, but was highly rated when new and both the GPS and chest band work brilliantly, which is all I need. Downside is it's not much of a looker- not something to wear to work!

Syncs with Polar Flow and Strava with no problems, although uploading your run does take a while!

I've got a Garmin 35, you should be able to find one for £100.

It's ok, it is very basic but it records your route, heart rate, pace and your stride rate, it displays time, distance, pace and heart rate info when you're running.

It also records steps and tracks sleep if you wear it all the time.

The only annoying thing about it is that it takes a while to pick up your GPS position at the start of a run so you're standing around for a few minutes waiting for it to be ready to record.

If it’s like my Vivoactive 3 I find syncing with my phone just before heading out helps it find a signal faster but I am wearing it most of the time.

Well that's the thing, I want one of these watches as I don't want to bring my phone with me.

Sorry, when I said sync there’s a button on the Garmin app that transfers any data between the watch and phone as a one off. I press that, leave the phone at home, then go for a run.
