Anyone ever had a private full body check up?
Discussion
I've only ever had one of these through work...and even then only as it was free. It was definately useful but they really went to town on the detailed metrics and graphs etc
- If you are referring to the other full body checks done by a big hairy bloke in the showers courtesy of HMP it's not something I have experienced and hopefully can avoid going forward!
Just quickly Googled this and found the Nuffield Health one.
Many of the tests are things you could reasonably ask your GP for if you were concerned about something in particular. Some are completely unnecessary. Some just sound like waffle - "hydration levels", "functional movement screening" and "measurement of physiological response to stressors" to name a few.
I'd advise you not to waste your money.

Let’s put this in PH terms:
Is your car running badly? Does anything look, feel or sound wrong? Is there a design flaw that is known to cause problems in your model of car that needs checking for? Has it been poorly maintained or driven very roughly recently?
If the answer to any of these questions is Yes, then get it booked in for a check up. If not, don’t. All you will get is a load of data that is of no use to you.

I had one through Spire a few years back. Consisted of a blood test, heart / lung health test (treadmill and wired up) and a body scan - can’t remember if CT or MRI but not the noisy one.
Got a report about a week later saying all was well. Cost me about £900 maybe.
A good friend of mine went to Preventicum which apparently is the one to go for if you are really wanting a thorough examination. I am told it’s quite invasive but I guess it’s just one day.

So you're saying that servicing my car is a waste of time and money and I should wait for something to go wrong before I get it seen to?Is your car running badly? If anything, the car analogy suggests I should get one of these full body check-ups every year.

Does your body have specified oil, filter, spark plug and timing belt/chain change intervals? If anything, the car analogy suggests I should get one of these full body check-ups every year.

For me yes, very much so. I was suffering from stress. I was having symptoms that I thought were heart related but could have been psychosomatic. The check-up results left me feeling hugely relieved and stopped me worrying about my health at least. I should add that I am far from a hypochondriac and generally am a (typical) bloke who avoids the doctor.MSR12c said:
