My wife tripped yesterday and landed on her index finger which has gone all swollen, bruised, can’t now be move and the tip of it only has feelings when really provoked (ie I squeeze it hard).

When I last dislocated my fingers I did go to A&E and all they did was confirmed they had been dislocated but not much else.

Is there any upside of going to hospital to get it checked out to see if anything serious has been done to it or do we go with isolation and pain killers expecting the feeling to return when swelling goes?

Buddy wrap it to the next finger and phone your gp to have a look. Take some ibuprofen and paracetemol.

Call 111 who may refer you to a local walk in centre.

111 is epic. If need be they can book you in somewhere in under 30 mins. You may have to wait a bit but they really are good.

If you do strap her finger to the adjacent digit, don't forget to put a little bit of padding such as gauze etc between them.

Agree with walk in centre after 111.
