A few weeks ago my mate asked me to help him lift a very heavy pane of glass (for a pond) - I don't know the weight but it was about 2.7m x .8m and 40mm thick, two sheets laminated together. It was VERY heavy! An online calculator makes it north of 200kg.

I lifted correctly re my back etc, I essentially had (my end of) the pane under my arm and rose from a squat to lift it. As soon as I had the weight I felt a strong strain in my arm but once we'd picked it there was no going back so I carried on.

I have a pain from, I would say, the bottom part of my bicep, through my elbow to about a third of the way down my forearm. It's towards the inner/top side of my elbow. I don't weight train or anything like that so this wasn't a usual task for me.

Any clues on what I damaged and how best to treat it, please?

Discomfort really, not pain in the scheme of things I guess. I'm aware it's there and that it's not right but it's not incapacitating me, if that makes sense?

Might have pulled a muscle, but if its a few weeks old, then probably a tendon/ligament, take painkillers and ibuprofen, and just keep moving it.

Thank you, I'll give that a go and hopefully it will clear up.

Get a theraband from somewhere like amazon and do 10-20 twists a day on a middle strength one, it has really helped my tennis elbow. There are quite a few exercises on youtube.

It's not unknown for people to tear a bicep doing deadlifts

Is that something which will resolve given time or would it need medical attention? I *think* the pain/discomfort level is receding, albeit slowly, but then I'm no spring chicken any more so things often take longer to heal. There's a slight ache at rest but if I try to lift or pull anything significant it plays up again.

With hindsight we should have put slings under the glass and lifted with our shoulders but tbh we didn't know just how heavy it was.

Youd have more than mild discomfort if your tore a bicep.
