Survey for those who have tested positive but are now well.

What was your Covid experience?

Feel free to add comments clarifying.

I’m seeing millions of positive test results, but although I’m involved with managing hundreds of people, claims for sick days have fallen massively, not lost anyone to anything but a ‘positive test but I’m not ill’....

Just want to get a feeling about how it’s affecting people. Obviously some people are dying and we have those numbers. What about the rest of us.

Mrs Pants had a test (I couldn't as as I had work stuff to do - at home) we were going to her parents for Christmas and wanted to be 100% sure that we were "clean", it was a complete shock when the result came back as positive. Our guess is that I would have been positive as well.

Since then she has been a a bit achy and I've had a very slight cough and have been tired in the evenings but nothing that I would say was unusual for the time of year, I've had bouts of flu that have been far worse.

My sister lives in the US and both her daughters are intensive care nurses and one of then got it and spread it to the rest of the family, everyone lost their sense of smell but no other symptoms at all! Her daughters were exhausted from the long shift hours and the pressure so really appreciated the 10 days isolation but the hospitals that they work for really tried to wriggle out of paying their sick days suggesting that they got COVID outside the ICUs where they work!

So no effect for us but if we had passed it onto our in-laws it would have certainly been curtains for them.

The USA. Greatest place to live. Not so great to get sick...!

I skipped voting because none of it applies to me, but I very much doubt I’m going to be surprised by the end result!

Wife felt really sick a few weeks ago, went for a test, was positive. Next day shes flat out in bed, temperature, aches, sickness, shaking, hacking cough etc (ticked every symptom box) and that's been what it's like for two weeks now. Absolutely awful, yesterday she was on the floor for hours, vertigo, could not move until we sorted some seasickness tablets to get her to bed. I had it bad for just one week, we have 2 school kids and they are absolutely fine, no symptoms but all of us tested positive.
It's the worst sickness we have ever experienced.

I tested positive in the middle of November. Aside from one day where it felt like flu (four days after receiving the positive test result), most of the time it was just coping with the loss of taste and smell. I didn't have a fever and only a very slight cough.

Edited to add: I'm 51 and diabetic

Started by feeling a bit run down, followed by being more ill than I've ever been before. Went from being so hot that I thought I was going to burn up to the coldest you could imagine. So cold that it made my skin and bones hurt. For a good few days it felt like I had been hung up by my legs, sandblasted, burnt, frozen, punched in the kidneys and kicked in the brain.
My girlfriend got it a couple of days later and went through the same.
I don't recommend it!

Early in spring 2020 lockdown. A bit feverish, crazy sense of smell which persists until today...

Cant vote as was not tested but had a very severe chest infection in Feb with really bad dry cough and high fever. Before any lock downs or issues other than in China.

Had a couple of days off work - which is incredibly rare for me as self employed - and I would say took 3 weeks to recover fully. I was ok at the end of Feb which was when things started to get bad in Italy.

I also had a touch of something in the summer which only seemed to last a couple of days, came on as sore throat and tired and aches - doctor said not enough symptoms for test (temp was fine, no cough or loss of taste) so wasnt tested then either. Cleared up within 48 hours and no cough and was right as rain.

My wife had nothing the whole time, which was really weird.

I haven’t had a positive test so can’t see the voting. When will it be available, I’m watching with interest.

I had symptoms (complete loss of taste and smell) for 4 weeks from the middle of March but no other symptoms. I subsequently had a positive antibodies test in July so know it was COVID.

Around the same time, my dad was probably the sickest he’s ever been and was on the verge of being taken to hospital. He suffered pretty horrendously for about 4 weeks and still suffers from shortness of breath now, although he’s much better. He had a scan in June and scarring to his lungs was visible.

For context, I’m 27 and my dad is 62.

Biased survey, where's the "I died" option?

Surely losing your sense of smell or taste longer term is worse than a few days of feeling rough.

Why so? Even for patients over 70 requiring ICU care for Covid 40% survive and are discharged, and by no means all elderly patients require critical care.
