I thought I would give it a go for a month and see how I get on.

I’ve used one for a few months. Initially I used to find it annoying at night when trying to sleep, however I’ve now got used to it now ! If you already wear a watch or bracelet to bed, you won’t have a problem. It takes a while of wearing before there is enough data collected to start giving meaningful feedback etc.
I’ve realised with the whoop that, when I exercised, I could do more before I reached the ‘right’ amount of strain. Also learnt that lifestyle has significant effects on ‘health’ or recovery … ie alcohol and lack of sleep.
Over New Year I contacted COVID (minor symptoms) and despite 100% sleep over the course of the week, both before just before showing symptoms and during my ‘recovery’ score was well down despite the best sleep record I’ve had.

I've had once since July last year, overall I love it. Data is really useful, definitely more mindful of sleeping better, recovering etc, when to push in training vs take it easier.
Also, pretty enlightening seeing the impact of alcohol on recovery/sleep!
Would definitely reccommend trying one.

As I understand it, a lot of what the band does uses your heart rate which I’m assuming is monitored via optical sensors on the band.
Can anyone who’s got one comment on how accurate the heart rate monitoring actually is? I’ve got a Garmin watch and it is absolutely hopeless, reading something in the 90s whilst I’m riding with a heart rate strap that is accurately measuring something in the 130/140 range.
My thinking is that unless the Whoop is properly measuring heart rate, none of the insights it’s providing will be particularly useful.

check out DC rainmaker for review of whoop (and most fitness tech stuff). he does pretty in depth reviews and gives honest opinions on stuff:

Thanks, that was really insightful. And I think you've saved me the cost of a Whoop!https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2021/11/whoop-4-band-p...
I’m 10 days in and finding it useful so far.
I was able to bin my Apple Watch (not literally) and wear a proper watch again, but still have the health tracking from the whoop too.
It’s encouraging me to rest way more than I ever have. I used to do a 10km walk on a rest day and not even count it as exercise (unless I’m blowing out of my arse it doesn’t count, right?). So I feel more balanced and probably like I’ve been under recovering (I won’t say overtraining as it doesn’t seem like that) for years.
Time will tell but it feels positive for me so far. Of course the more data you have the more you can obsess over the detail, which I have to consciously limit myself from doing.

Just looked at my stats.
I've had mine for 145 days and in that time, thanks to meaningful data and prompts my RHR has dropped 10%, HRV increased 19% and restorative sleep has increased 22%.
I'm managing an autoimmune disease and in the past found it hard to read what my body was telling me, often over reaching and then recovering poorly for 3+ days. I also have data reports that I can export and send to my consultant which has been useful.
The new insights section paired with the journal shows you what works / doesn't. Cold water immersion and meditation proving very beneficial for me.
I'm sold. And the 24h data with charging on wrist is a big step up from apple watch.

I dipped into Whoop when it first launched but for reasons I cant remember, I didnt continue with the membership.
Having had a look again, I now think it will be of greater value to me, particularly in terms of helping me manage my rest, recovery and sleep optimally (I am horrible for not getting enough sleep). Anyway, there is a 30 day trial period and if you use this link https://join.whoop.com/391C4B the first month is free, meaning you only pay the delivery charge.
I will update when I receive it and have had chance to evaluate whether or not I will keep beyond the 30 days.

Bump, came across this gadget, I am not interested in a watch, just a way to capture health data, so this strap device appeals.
Has anything better come along since or due to be released soon? Thanks
