Recently found myself getting tired quite early and have pinned it down to not really being able to switch off properly.

Work is full on but when I leave the building it's done.

Home is also busy with lots of jobs always to do.

I'm a do kind of person so I love to just get on and do and get things finished.

The cold weather hasn't how's as it's limited what I can due to temp & light so find myself indoors more with some restless energy.

Any tips from people on how to wind down better?

Beer, cycling, (not at the same time) and reading in the evening rather than looking at my phone (he says, being on PH on his phone at 10pm)

If you need help then look at the headspace app which teaches meditation. Free use of first 10 sessions, Ive never gone beyond that, I just reuse them

I find it very relaxing and often fall asleep - apparently you aren't supposed to do this but it works for me.

You wind down to AthleanX?? The amount Jeff waffles has virtually killed my interest in the site. I mean, some good stuff, but he does go on... and on... .

walk, if your of advancing years running can give you knee issues.... best take it easy and get out and walk. it works

or bike - something that you need to pedal, and go on a few runs of decent length. get time for yourself no interruptions and no phones or social media, just get out your headspace and relax.

easier said than done but after doing it a few times you get used to switching off.

Weight lifting and walking are great for me.

Meditation is also good. I like to wind down to meditation music on Spotify or thunder and rain videos on youtube if I'm not up to doing any actual meditation. Grab a pair of good noise-cancelling headphones and it's lovely.

Yoga was quite nice as well but I stuck with weight lifting as I don't have the time to do both.

Going for a walk with my dog with my earphones in listening to music works for me

I should ask for the earphones back if I were you. Does he/she listen to Bach?

Just out unwinding at the moment. Out for a nice walk in the countryside listening to music as I walk. But I am being Rather naughty as I have walked out of a teir 3 area into a tier 2.

For me, if I can't wind down it's normally that I need a new job.

Exercise is great, but personally it does little for my mental state. If anything I'm usually more wound up by whether I'm sticking to my routines with it.

Probably more relaxing than listening to Greg Doucette on Jeff.

Yeah. The two are polar opposites - but equally tedious in my view. Meadows can be interesting and gets to the nub relatively quickly.

Mindfulness (meditation to some) - it isn't just a state changer like most suggestions but it changes your trait.

Evidence shows running to be beneficial for your knees, even in 'advancing years'

new to me - exercise (never been fitter) - just finished in our basic gym after a hectic day and have a much clearer head. A year ago the answer would have been travel (ie the commute).

Lady Balfour was a competitive runner. Her knees and other running components were shot by her mid-30s.

I used to run and had to stop due to running-related injuries.

Everyone runner I have ever known has either been injured, was recently injured or was just about to become injured.

I have heard of few swimmers or cyclists suffering the same way.
