I’m on Metronidazole and Amoxicillin (second course of Amoxicillin) now after 2 abortive, ceiling hitting attempts at a root canal filling (with medicated dressing applied after both) and then on the third visit the extraction had to be aborted half way through.
This has been pretty traumatic and the stares from the practice staff as I leave has been indicative that they aren’t used to hearing people shouting in pain…
Dentist (my best ever and a lovely chap) has been injecting both sides of gum (those lovely palate jabs) and endontically but it just hasn’t worked. The tooth is hyper hot.
So today after 4 days of the double antibiotic cocktail it has settled down a lot and maybe could be filled or extracted. BUT he’s on holiday for a week and I have been booked in for 13 days away. Clearly my fear is that the inflammation will have returned and I am a bit stressed. I asked if someone else there could extract the tooth at the peak of the antibiotics efficacy but was told no. My health and pain v their schedule – but I do sympathise Covid is tough on them. They are fire fighting. But will I be back to square one, hitting the roof again and then prescribed a 3d batch of antibiotics?
Dentist has been great - even seeing me in his lunch breaks due to my pain but having the 4th attempt 2 weeks AFTER the last antibiotic really worries me and I worry about being able to work. Will it be safe (in the words of the film…)?
