When I first grew a beard eighteen months ago I bought a cheap Phillips trimmer. It's OK but can give my beard "strimmer chic".

My children tell me that my sagging neck demands that I keep a beard permanently, or consider a facelift. So I am prepared to buy a better trimmer.

Any recommendations please?

It depends what sort of length you’ll keep it at, but I’ve found wahl hair trimmers much better than the adjustable type beard trimmer.

I have had several beard trimmers, they are all varying degrees of crap. I just standard clippers now, it's also mildly entertaining to have your hair and beard the same length hehe

I started off trimming my beard short using hair cutters, beard is now long so just cut the sides with hair cutters.

Hair clippers.

I have some cheap wahl ones, that run off AA batteries. Less hassle than corded or rechargeables and I'm only on the second set in nearly ten years. Weekly grade 4 beard trim, usually in the garden so no mess to sweep up!

Brio beardscape.

I didn't know whether to believe the YouTube Beardbrand hype but can't fault it. And I've had many trimmers. Mrs J even used it to cut my hair during lock down.

Yup, that’d do it. You can normally pick up plug in ones for £15-£20 from tkmaxx. I’ll go chargeable next time though, it’s a faff to keep getting an extension lead to the bathroom laugh

I use a Philips, 7000 series that has a built in vacuum.

The vacuum isn't terribly effective, but I like the trimmer. No faffing about with oil is required!

I also use a Philips One Blade which I find pretty useful - does work as a beard trimmer with the comb attached, good for trimming the edges and decent for a quick shave on the rest of my face when I can't be bothered to wet shave.

I have the Philips 7000 12 in 1 which suits me just well. Had it just under a year now with no issues.

Would say a beard bib is also a necessity...

Those are alright, apart from you cannot trim your ‘tache, as the combs hit your nose...

I have Philips Norelco and it is great especially for me because I have long beard and this is great one. Check out its review here
