I’m great at doing my work (on computers / data). But fking hell in real life I am lazy. Trying to sort my workshop out today so I can get my motorbike in it, and it’s all I can do to drag some st out to sort out, boxes, tools, assorted stuff. I drag a few bits out then have to sit down and read the entire internet.

And actually sorting the shizzle, no chance. I’ll probably just drag it all back in later.

I’m hoping there’s a medical explanation!

It’s called procrastination. Except normally people drag everything out their garage or shed to sort to avoid doing something important and obviously of lower reward/effort value.

The fact that you are procrastinating over a typical procrastination task means you are indeed a lazy, feckless wastrel. Now get back in there and sort it out and then you can enjoy a well earned beer later, admiring your tidy garage.

It aint just you.

6 years ago I bought my house, the spare room was a kids room before so I got some paint to sort it out, ive been WFH in the spare room since March and every day I look at the paint, look at the walls, then get back to the internet. One day maybe.

I think your stuff looks quite nice in the garden, and if you put your bike in the shed you'll only have to get it back out at some stage, so why bother? Just leave it the way it is and enjoy some quality time with your computer, that's the easiest way yes

^ agreed

I'd be putting tarpaulin over that stuff in a feeble attempt to keep any rain off of it, and getting back on the internet.

On a more serious note it is often a sign of depression.

Procrastination is a sign of a perfectionist...

I've got a similar situation with my garage, wife wants it sorted quickly, I want it done properly i.e. everything out, painted, racking up, everything in its place. Therefore it's never been done.

Exactly my situation now. Garage needs tidying. Whats the point because I don't have all of the tool racks that I need available. Thus, it doesn't get done!

yes

Every time I find a box that I hadn't got round to throwing away and can store something in it*, I always mutter, "See, you should never throw anything away!"

* - usually smaller boxes. wink
