Serious thread please!

Just don't know whether to go for it or not- and which clinic to choose... All promise the earth of course.

I'm based up North now- anyone got any advice?

I know 3 people that have had on

A lad I used to work with spent over 20 grand on one about 15 years ago on the early days of transplants, 6 months later he was essentially back to how he was pre treatment

The BIL has one done at some clinic on Harley street last summer, paid 12 grand, looked great for about 3 months then thinned, but it is certainly better than he had

A contractor of mine went to turkey for a 3 grand job, looks spot on 18 months later, no loss and looks as good as it did when he had it done

I’m tempted to go to turkey myself but haven’t done much of my own research

Have you thought of shaving it off completely?

I know the anxiety involved in losing your hair frown

Shaved my head nearly 20 years ago, and, wouldn’t have it any other way now.

Don’t forget, one’s hair falls out due to problems relating to the scalp, you can replace the hair, but you still have the same old scalp frown

Losing mine also. Transplants seem to be getting better year on year but I’m thinking of finasteride/propecia for now.

I've always thought I'd have one if I ever had the disposable income but have had a number 0 with the clippers for 20 years.

My mate went to Turkey for a 3k job. Instead of being completely bald he now looks like he's going bald with a dodgy combover

I read the other day that they have managed to make a solution from stem cells and fatty tissue that once applied to the scalp promotes hair growth, going through trials at the moment but you never know may have a cure in the future.

Don't need one myself but remember going to Morocco with the lads and one of my balding mates had a treatment done at a barbers.
Nick him with a razor all over his scalp then rubbed fresh garlic in his head, how we all laughed as he screamed in pain. Don't think it worked but apparently you have to do it a few times.
I'm not sure he could ever go through that pain again lol.

I had it done in Turkey last year. A year on and touch wood it looks fantastic, and I’ve still got some time left for growth

Everyone who knows I’ve had it done is very complimentary, even though it pains them to be. And those that don’t know, haven’t noticed, so pretty much a success

Why go to Turkey out of interest?

Partly the cost £3000 including flights for myself and girlfriend. Also all reviews I’d read suggested issues wish UK based clinics and praised the one I used

Not at all. They take the follicles over a large area so it is not noticeable. They don’t just take one solid patch

A friend of mine had it done, however it doesn’t stop you continuing to lose hair. I think he went to Greece.

When I was looking at it (and in the end I just decided to shave all my hair off), the best combination was to have a hair transplant AND use Propecia and/or finasteride to stop losing the bits around the transplant.

It probably was around 5-6 months before it had grown to a decent level as it falls out before it grows again
