Following on from my food poisoning/covid thread I now have this problem, they started off at the same time, initially it was a leg that was sore to the touch and I ended up limping around for a day or two but it didn't seem to swell up much, now it looks like this. Not pretty but I think it may be serious.

I will say I have always had a rash over the front area, people have told me it might be exzma so its always been a bit red an itchy. Could it be DVT caused by lying in bed for a couple of days when I was ill or is it more likely to be something to do with my illness? Its not really sore anymore and I can walk round ok again which seemed to tie in with recovering from the illness but its still swelled up.

I really don't wan't to go to A&E or the doctors whilst they are tied up with this corona stuff, will GP's even see you if you have suspected corona virus, I would have to tell them.

Could be all sorts of reasons but only a doctor would be able to say with any degree of certainly.

I know you don't want to bother the NHS and I'm the same with stuff like this but -
If it was someone you cared about showing you their swollen leg, what would you be telling them to do right now? smile

If you press any of the swollen area with you thump does the flesh spring straight back or do you see a depression where you've pressed it?

If youve been sat around during lockdown, I owuld be concerned about DVT big time.

Is the the leg hot to touch, and if you push a finger into the skin, does it take a few seconds for the divot to come back up ?

Think Id be on the way to hospital, but Ive had 3 seperate DVT and one became a PE....

Not really, the leg is pretty solid, it only seems to be at the front as well, the calf at the back is all pretty normal.

I haven't been sat around during lockdown either, I've been so busy at home doing stuff, its just the last couple of days I've spent laid up in bed really although I've still been getting up from time to time to eat and use the toilet (which was quite often due to the massive amount of water I drunk having a fever)

In view of the recent infection and reduced mobility I would be concerned too about the possibility of Deep Vein Thrombosis. This should be seen as an urgency rather than an emergency, maybe call 111?

That is how my leg looked when I had a DVT. I nearly died as I decided it wasn't important to get it looked at !

Looking at that leg dvt is my thought too.
Get it seen to straight away, I had a good friend who passed away at 57 because of a blood clot.
Even if its something else you will at least know what it is.

Well done.

A dedima (sp) blood test and then ultrasound scan will determine if you have a DVT.

Then, you will be on antocoags - possibly clexane into the belly, but its been a few years since my last DVT.

Im on Warfarin for life now.

Already had my blood taken, they must think it's quite urgent but the doctor hasn't even had a look at it yet, no one has.

Should be pretty quick, I had to go to hospital yesterday as I suspected a broken ankle from a slip, they were brilliant, I saw a surgeon straight away then had an X-ray and back to the surgeon and out all within half an hour. Only saw one other patient who looked like his arm was broken

This really is torture, sat in an isolation room with a mask on, waiting for the doctors to asses me. Are they able to do the blood test on site and get the results today, they shut the a&e at 8pm.

The doctor has been and seen me, the test has come back positive bit he reckons it could be cellulitis or whatever it's called, apparently that gives a positive result as well.

Next step is an injection and book me in for a scan maybe tomorrow.

I have had Cellulitis. 3 weeks ago, also had PE and a couple of DVT. Cellulitis is normally preceded by a bit of a temperature also would need to be a break in the skin. For me, kittens nails.
Top job going to A and E with it. I didn't. Then discovered a problem after coughing up blood etc. Good luck.
